Name/where are you from and How long have you been playing drums?
My name is Scot Ellis. I grew up in Orange County and I live in Los Angeles.
How long have you been touring?
I’ve been touring pretty solid since 1997.
Best part of touring?
I do it because I love playing drums live. So the performance is the best part for me. When not playing, I enjoy walking around towns and taking the
culture in. I love going to new places!
Worst part of touring?
Summer touring can be pretty brutal with the heat, and waiting around often can test a person too. You have to find productive things to do with yourself or you’ll go crazy.
How did you get your current gig?
I had known Justin just from us both being in the L.A. music scene. I was tour managing She Wants Revenge when the drummer quit, so I jumped in to help and then the single took off. It was a strange play of events. I’m very grateful for it all.
What are you listening to?
Lately a lot of The Clash, and Queens of the Stone Age.
What advice would you give to someone starting out doing what you do?
Always try your best and don’t be discouraged. It is true that good things come to those who wait. I’m proof.
