Name/where are you from and How long have you been playing drums?
Terrence DeVonn Campbell, I live in New York, but came up in Louisville, Ky. I started playing drums when I was 13 years old. I didn't get my own kit until I was 15 when my grandfather got me one. I learned from this cat who taught me basic beats on desks in class. Then I would go with my friends to their guitar lessons at music stores and play the display kits.
How long have you been touring?
I've been touring for about the past 7 years. Since I was a senior in high school.
Best part of touring?
There are so many... Seeing the world and people in various places enjoy themselves is very rewarding. It's also really amazing to be able to live a life that's completely unpredictable.
Worst part of touring?
Being away from people you care about for extensive periods of time.
How did you get your current gig?
I drum for Young Love. I've been friends with the guys in the band for years and years. When our previous projects met their demise it was time for a new era. It all worked out perfectly because since I've known these guys I've always had mad respect for them as humans and musicians. So I'm really pleased that they asked me to link up with them.
What are you listening to?
I have a habit of only listening to 4 records until I'm absolutely sick of them, so right now I feel like I'll never get enough of The Brazilian Girls record, Basement Jaxx "Kish Kash", Clipse "Lord Willin" and Bjork "Debut"
What advice would you give to someone starting out doing what you do?
Honestly it sounds very cliche', but the best advice that I can offer is to just do it; make moves, don't hesitate. Its your life and you're in control. It's completely worth it to take chances and risks.
Any last words?
Feels good yo
